When talking about the history of legendary players in the San Diego area, it would be hard to have that conversation without bringing up the name Sean Rees. For a full list of his accomplishments a general Google search will give you what you need or you can simply go to his bio on HBAsportsacademy.com . These days, when looking for a pitching instructor you can find Sean Rees working with HBA’s 11u boys.
Rees has been an instructor with HBA from the beginning, working every week with our pitchers of every skill level. He has been a pillar and a compelling factor as to the success of our academy. So when the opportunity arose for him to join the managerial staff there was no question that he would be the perfect fit for one of our premier teams.
Several factors are considered when putting together a winning team. Those would include player talent, compatibility, experience, development and instruction. HBA prides itself on providing all of these plus the bonus of a supportive environment for young boys and girls. It’s pretty rare that at the age of 11 you would come across a team that would have all of the above.
There’s one thing for sure when you’re talking about HBA and that’s the fact that the boys on the 11u team can play. The core of the team has been together now for over a year and they have become the talk of travel baseball here in the greater San Diego area. They have played for several great managers, now they get to settle in with a veteran. With Rees’s experience this team will be sure to continue it’s rise in the travel ball standings.
You might ask, “how much influence can one coach have on a team” well just look at the St. Louis Cardinals this year. After hiring a new manager, the team’s winning percentage significantly increased in the second half of the season. As for THIS team? The sky’s the imit! With its clear athleticism and speed combined with the depth of experience from their new skipper, be on the lookout for this rising star! We are HBA!
