ABOUT HBA SPORTS ACADEMY

PROGRAM INCLUDES:

  • Instruction from former Minor League and MLB players and coaches

  • Two weekly practices: (1) individual skills and (2) team dynamics

  • Individual hitting instruction and analysis

  • Spring Training (February)

  • Regular Season (March-May)

  • Tournament season (June-Oct)

  • Off season speed and strength training (Nov-Jan)

PLAYERS

Players experience distinct workout environments each week. One workout consists of instructors leading ninety-minute individual skills sessions whereby players receive position-specific instruction designed for small groups and high repetition. For example, middle-infielders practicing double-play feeds; hitters driving the ball to the opposite field.


The other workouts focuses on team dynamics in game situations. For example, cut-offs and relays, bunt plays, rundowns, first and third situations, pick-off plays. Players receive each type of workout weekly during the 9- month playing season. The 3-month Redline off-season program is optional but encouraged and consists primarily of strength, speed, and endurance conditioning.

Top HBA teams wear white pinstriped game uniforms.

All other HBA teams wear black and grey game uniforms.

Ken Gibson: There are times in a child's life when they realize they want to play a sport and take the next step to become proficient at the sport.  They start out by joining little league teams and do not get the training or attention they need to take the next step.  Joining some baseball clubs ( travel teams), where they all talk the talk and are all about the money.  We have found a baseball organization that puts the time, effort, concern, and has a family atmosphere; they are called HBA.  HBA cares about the player, if you want your player to gain the skills needed to advance look to HBA, where the player and parent will enjoy the experience.

Richard S: The experience with HBA is significantly different then any other academy our family has been involved with at this time. This academy is about the expectation that each parent and child attend practices and scrimmages each week and hold themselves accountable to get better each time. This academy focuses on winning but will not chase the hottest tournament or hottest location unless the effort and development from everyone is in place. Each academy team is expected to stay together through good and bad times, win and losses, ups and downs. If you wish to be someone who goes from academy to academy then this is clearly not the place to come be part of and this is why we are fully committed. HBA is a family as well as a sports academy. This is why in our mind it's simply the best sports academy I have seen to date. Lastly, the coaches and the ownership are open to discuss development and the contacts and resources are simply outstanding. This is our home.

Rahim Abdul: In short, HBA Sports Academy's program is one to be modeled from. It teaches elements of the gamethat I haven't seen from other academy's out there. The three elements besides skilling up are: baseball "IQ", current day expectations/reality for advancement of players & player selflessness for the greater good of the HBA TEAM. I feel these elements being taught are priceless. This academy is the best I have seen in San Diego County. LETS GO HBA FAM!!!!

The Rocha Family: HBA is an amazing sports academy for all sports. My son learns so much as they are pinnacle of sports and sportsmanship.
